This is an enormously important and powerful scene with so much going on, so much tension mounting. What is your reaction to the baptism of Daniel? Some items to consider: What does Daniel seem to be doing here? Is he sincere? Is there any sincerity? Is there a moment when he seems affected? With what does Daniel seem to be concerned?
Happy ending? Upon rewatching (and reflecting on) the end of the film, how would you characterize it? If Ben was concerned about his future at the beginning of the film, worried that he wanted it to be "different," then what does the end of the film seem to be saying? While no words are exchanged over the last five minutes of the film, what do the looks and faces of Ben and Elaine tell us? |
